Balikbayan from France shot dead in Laoag

BAGUIO CITY, Philippines  – Assassins  riding  a motorcycle gunned down a “balikbayan” from  France Sunday night in barangay Mangato, Laoag City.

Zaldy dela Cruz, 46, native of barangay 38-A, Mangato, Laoag City was riding  a motorcycle along the national highway when the assassins opened fire at him infront of the city cemetery.

The victim’s brother—Robert—who was also riding on a separate motorcycle  saw the shooting  and said he ran after his brother’s assassins who were not even wearing helmets. Robert was also fired at but the gunmen missed him.

The police are stil facing a blank wall on the incident though they are  planning to invite the younger dela Cruz and others who can shed light on the killing. - Artemio A. Dumlao
