Two farm caretakers shot dead
BALANGA CITY, Bataan, Philippines – Unidentified armed men wearing military uniform shot dead the two caretaker of a farm in Barangay Capitangan, Abucay town yesterday morning.
Sossimo Atienza, 43, and his nephew Raymart Villegas, 16, succumbed to gunshot wounds in the head and chest and were found meters away from their hut in Sitio Hulong Dumpit.
Town police chief Senior Inspector Galahad Taqueban said the suspects shot the victims at close range and fled toward the mountain.
Investigators are eyeing land dispute as one of the possible motives for the killing. They said the victims were employed by a prominent family to take care the five hectares of land in the area.
Police deployed several teams to the mountains of Abucay and Balanga to arrest the suspects.
