Cleanup drive held in Mariveles

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Bataan policemen and members of the Manila-based Alpha Fire Brigade and Brotherhood Association launched a one-day cleanup drive in Mariveles, Bataan last weekend in support of this year’s Earth Day celebration.

The cleanup drive, highlighted by a tree-planting activity, was launched through the initiative of La Filipina Uygongco Corp. in close coordination with the office of Mariveles Mayor Jesse Concepcion.

Around 400 saplings of coconut trees were planted along the coastline of Barangay Townsite in Mariveles town.

La Filipina Real Estate Co. general manager Susan Romero underscored the importance of the cleanup drive in providing a better and cleaner environment for the future generation.

Aside from the police and fire volunteers, the organizers also enlisted the support of members of Recycling 129, a recycling group based in Tondo, Manila, and locals in the cleanup drive.
