LP victory to bring real development in Cavite – Maliksi

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Cavite Rep. Erineo “Ayong” Maliksi, who is running for governor, stepped up his campaign pitch yesterday saying a Liberal Party (LP) victory will bring a windfall of real economic development in the province, and not fantasyland promises.

“Our historically-rich province needs real economic development and not fantasyland promises. As pledged by President Aquino, Cavite will become a great economic and tourism hub with a Liberal Party sweep in Cavite,” said Maliksi, who is running with vice gubernatorial candidate Ronald Jay Lacson.

Maliksi said among the projects in the pipeline for Cavite is the P60-billion Light Rail Transit (LRT) Line 1 that would connect Metro Manila to Bacoor.

The project, which will be completed in 2015, is expected to serve at least 250,000 passengers daily.

“This will virtually open the door of Cavite to people in Metro Manila and domestic and foreign tourists who will have greater accessibilty to visit the province known as the country’s historic capital,” Lacson said.

Lacson, who has been his father Sen. Panfilo “Ping” Lacson’s chief of staff, vowed to bring Cavite back to its “historic glory” when elected in the May polls.

“It is just lamentable that this province has been increasingly known for its showbiz personalities and celebrities who dish out fantasies and make-believe world and not its role in the Philippine history. It also did not help that past officials here failed to promote this place for its historic glory and open up Cavite to the world through better road network and transport systems,” he said.

Apart from Maliksi and Lacson, other LP officials running for the May elections are Emmanuel Maliksi and Armando Ilano for mayor and vice mayor in Imus, respectively, and incumbent and incoming congressional Reps. Elpidio Barzaga Jr., Roy Loyola, Francis Gerald Abaya, Jessie Castillo, Alex Advincula, Dencito Campaña and Abraham Tolentino.
