Gunmen kill 3 members of Ilonggo family in Maguindanao

COTABATO City, Philippines - Gunmen killed in a daring ambush on Monday three members of an Ilonggo family in a secluded district of the restive Ampatuan town in Maguindanao, police said Tuesday.

Senior Inspector Ronald del Leon, chief of the Ampatuan municipal police, identified the three fatalities as Jessie, Rosemarie, and Joshua, all surnamed Pareja, who died from gunshot wounds in different parts of their bodies.

The victims, coming from the town market, were on board a motorcycle and on their way to Sitio Sabaduan in Barangay Kauran when gunmen emerged from one side of the road and shot them with assault rifles.

Police investigators were still trying to determine the identities of the attackers.
