Raps vs 3 Tuguegarao farmers junked

Raymund Catindig - The Philippine Star

TUGUEGARAO CITY, Philippines – The Department of Justice has dismissed the murder and frustrated murder charges filed by police and military against three farmers in connection with the ambush of Army soldiers in the village of Dicamay 2, Jones, Isabela last Friday.

Provincial Prosecutor Roderick Cruz absolved Rey Anama, Gerry Geneva and his 17-year-old son Jameson for insufficient evidence.

The three said they were picked up by the military in the adjoining village of Sta. Isabel while on their way home from their farms.

Cruz said it is improbable for the three to be in the encounter site considering they were tested negative for gunpowder.

He ordered the release of Anama and the elder Geneva who were detained at the provincial jail, and asked the Department of Social Welfare and Development to free Jameson.
