Juancho Mahusay - The Philippine Star

CALAPAN CITY, Philippines – A supporter of a Liberal Party’s (LP) candidate for governor of Occidental Mindoro was killed while another was wounded after motorcycle-riding gunmen opened fire at them in San Jose, Thursday morning.

Town police chief Senior Inspector Danilo Uy Driz Jr. said Luzviminda Gaudier had just stepped out of her house at Leuterio corner Burgos streets in Barangay Pag-asa when shot.

Gaudier died from a bullet wound in the chest while a bystander identified as Peter Boy Damian was hit in the buttocks.

They were rushed to the San Jose District Hospital where Gaudier died later while Damian was declared out of danger.

Witnesses said the suspects fled after the attack.

Recovered from the crime scene were four shells and a live bullet for .45 caliber pistol.

Police have yet to determine whether the killing was politically motivated.
