Lightning kills student

ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines – A high school student was killed while another was wounded when lightning hit them Thursday inside the school campus in Payao, Zamboanga Sibugay.

The fatality identified as Edilberto Malbuyo, 19, was sitting on a bench at the Niño National High School with Stephen Quirante, 17, when lightning struck past 5 p.m.

Malbuyo died on the spot while Quirante was rushed to the Payao Municipal Hospital in Payao for treatment.
