Danny B. Dangcalan - The Philippine Star

BACOLOD CITY , Philippines  â€“ The acting police director of Negros Occidental was relieved from his post Thursday, after Gov. Alfredo Marañon Jr. accused him of engaging in partisan politics.

Chief Superintendent Agrimero Cruz, Western Visayas police director, ordered the immediate relief of Senior Superintendent Celestino Guara as per the request of Marañon, according to Senior Superintendent Milko Lirazan, chief of Regional Office for Personnel and Human Resource and Doctrine Development.

Guara, who served as acting provincial police director for almost three months, will be replaced by Senior Superintendent Ricardo de la Paz, former Bacolod City police chief.

Guara has denied the governor’s accusations.
