PDEA fears La Union residents reverting to marijuana trade
BAGUIO CITY, Philippines - The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) on Friday said that some villagers in La Union may be falling back to the illegal trade of marijuana.
This, after two young La Union villagers sold a huge haul of marijuana contraband to undercover anti-narcotics agents last April 9.
Bismark Bengwayan, spokesperson of the PDEA-Region 1, said Segundo Cogaid and Michael Olario, both in their early 20s, were busted for selling 30 kilograms of high grade marijuana.
"We are concerned several La Union residents are reverting back to selling illegal hemp. They think that they can make easy money by engaging into this kind of business. We are here to stop them," Bengwayan said.
The PDEA said that at least four youthful suspects have been arrested for selling marijuana.
