Grenade lobbed at house of Sorsogon bet’s brother

LEGAZPI CITY, Philippines – Unidentified motorcycle-riding men lobbed a grenade at the house of the brother of a candidate for mayor in Prieto Diaz, Sorsogon Friday night, police said.

The grenade blast occurred before 9 p.m. at the residence of Joseph Jao Yap III in Barangay Pangpang, said Superintendent Renato Bataller, Bicol police spokesman.

Yap is the brother of Jocelyn Yap-Lelis, who is running under the United Nationalist Alliance.

Bataller said Marlon Gerondia and Jesus Dollentas, helpers of the Yap family, told police the screen door at the main entrance of the house, porch ceiling and glass windows were broken. “Fortunately nobody was hurt during the incident,” he said.
