Negros cops turn to Facebook to nab slay suspect
BACOLOD CITY, Philippines – With a little sleuthing on Facebook, a popular social networking site, police were able to track down a man wanted for killing his younger brother and arrest him in a village here last Wednesday.
The suspect, Domingo Tablo, 52, was collared while refueling at a gasoline station here, according to Senior Inspector Richie Gohee, Station 5 chief.
Tablo had been at large for gunning down his younger brother Maximo over a land dispute in Catanduanes last year.
After the killing, Tablo fled to Negros Occidental where his wife’s family resides.
The younger Tablo’s wife sought the help of Inspector Alexander Sy, Cadiz City jail warden, who in turn coordinated with Gohee.
Gohee said they searched the Facebook page of the elder Tablo’s daughter, and through the pictures posted there, learned that he resides in Barangay 35 here.
According to Gohee, Senior Inspector Jose Michael Aurelio of the Catanduanes police issued a certification that Tablo was the second most wanted man in Catanduanes.
Tablo was nabbed on the strength of an arrest warrant issued by Regional Trial Court Judge Lelu Contreras of Virac, Catanduanes.
