7 held for firing guns in drinking bout

LAGUNA, Philippines  â€“ Seven of 14 people were arrested for firing guns during a drinking bout in Victoria town this province yesterday.

Acting on the complaints of residents, police rushed to Barangay San Benito but the 14 men scampered toward different directions. After a brief chase, seven of them were collared and yielded a .38-caliber revolver, a shotgun, a .45-caliber pistol and assorted bullets.

Senior Superintendent Pascual Muñoz, Laguna police director, said charges of alarm and scandal, illegal discharge of firearms, and violation of the gun ban were filed against Efren Motizer, Jhomar Blaza, Dona King, Harold Ansay, Ronzel Ramos, Melvin Lagrosa, and Gil Dernesa.
