BATANGAS, Philippines – A couple and two women were killed while two others, including a minor, sustained injuries when the passenger jeepney they were riding crashed into an electric post and trees as its brakes malfunctioned in Talisay town here Wednesday afternoon, authorities said.
Couple Prudencio, 47, and Maria Hernandez, 43, died on the spot, while Teresita Sanggalang, 46, and Carmencita Padilla, 33, were declared dead on arrival at the CP Reyes Hospital. Injured were Kate Pauleen Padilla, 7, and Hazel Ann Fajardo, 18.
Police said the jeepney driver, a certain Gerardo Maige, will be charged with reckless imprudence resulting in multiple homicide and multiple physical injuries.
