The Philippine Star

PANGASINAN, Philippines – Malacañang has declared April 5 a special non-working day here as the province celebrates its 433rd founding anniversary known as Agew na Pangasinan (Pangasinan Day).

Provincial tourism officer Maria Luisa Elduayan said seven cultural activities are slated that day, starting with a thanksgiving Mass at the capitol plaza in the morning.

This will be followed by a commemorative program, including the presentation of the Pangasinan History and Development Book to Gov. Amado Espino Jr.

Next will be the awarding of the winners of the Kurit Panlunggaring 2013 (second Pangasinan Literary Contest) and the Balitok a Tawir Culture and Arts Festival.

Cultural performances by the local governments of Bautista and Urdaneta City will follow. At 6 p.m., five prominent Pangasinenses will be awarded during the 4th ASNA Awards Night and Grand Ball at the Sison Auditorium.

A nightlong variety show dubbed Paliket ed Aplaya will cap the celebration at the Lingayen beachfront. – Eva Visperas, Cesar Ramirez
