Abra mayor charged with election gun ban violation

BANGUED, Abra, Philippines – The mayor of Luba town in Abra and his three bodyguards were charged yesterday with illegal possession of firearms and violating the election gun ban.
Mayor Marcelo Biscarra and his bodyguards were arrested early Sunday after an M-16 rifle, a 9mm pistol and bullets were found in his Pajero at a checkpoint here.
Sources identified the three men as Federico Balboa, Mario Ambrosio and Joel Tomas.
Biscarra could not be reached for comment.
