ABRA, Philippines – The mayor of Luba town here was arrested along with three companions after his car yielded two guns during an inspection at a police checkpoint in the capital town of Bangued early yesterday morning, authorities said.
Police found an Armalite rifle, a 9-mm pistol, and bullets for the two guns in the Mitsubishi Pajero of Mayor Marcelo Biscarra.
The mayor was held along with Federico Balboa, Mario Ambrosio and Joel Tomas for violation of the election gun ban. He was later rushed to the hospital after complaining of chest pains.
