ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines - - At least two crew were killed while nine others were wounded when a speeding passenger bus swiped a parked trailer truck along the highway in Aurora town, Zamboanga del Sur, the police said Tuesday.
Chief Inspector Ariel Huesca, spokesman of Police Regional Office 9 (PRO), identified the fatalities as Jomar Belen Dungay, 27, a resident of Barangay Kawit, Pagadian City, and Elman Bacalso Clarabal, 28, a native of Barangay Tiniguangan, Dimataling town, Zamboanga del Sur.
Huesca said investigation disclosed that the trailer truck was parked on the road side to rest for night along the highway at Barangay Balintawak Aurora when it was side swiped about 4:05 a.m. Monday by the speeding bus of Rural Transit Mindanao Inc. (RTMI).
Two of the truck crews were pinned to death while nine other passengers were injured on the road mishap.
The driver of bus, with body number 1252, escaped toward an unknown direction, leaving his passengers and the bus, the police said.
The police have coordinated with the bus company to identify the bus driver, who is now being pursued by cops.
