Maguindanao road mishap kills 9

COTABATO CITY, Philippines – Nine persons were killed when a van collided with a dump truck on the Secretary Narciso Ramos Highway in Parang, Maguindanao Sunday afternoon.

The fatalities were in the passenger van (MEE-797) bound for Pagadian City from South Cotabato. Four of them were identified as Virginia Sinarillos, Mike Mokkamad, Nurhaya Baliodong and Jovergen Sinarillos.

The dump truck was bound for  Sultan Kudarat town.

 Two of the van passengers died at the scene while seven died while being transported to the hospital, Parang Mayor Ibrahim Ibay told The STAR.

Maguindanao police director Senior Superintendent Rudelio Jocson said 15 other persons who were in the van and dump truck were also injured and brought to various hospitals.

It was the second fatal road accident in Central Mindanao this month. Three weeks ago, nine nursing students were killed when a van collided with an Army truck on the Cotabato-Davao Highway in Barangay Takepan in Pikit town.
