Non Alquitran - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - A 54-year-old grandmother was killed while her one-year-and-five-month-old grandson sustained injuries when a wayward truck crashed into a bicycle store in Antipolo City last Saturday.

Josephine Alburo, of Block 10, Northville, Barangay Bagong Nayon, sustained head and body injuries and died while being rushed to the hospital.

Her grandson, John Carlo Bualoy, is still being treated at the Antipolo Medical Hospital.

Senior Superintendent Rolando Anduyan, Rizal police director, has ordered a manhunt for the driver, Johnny Celeste, who fled after the incident.

Anduyan said the truck was cruising along Marcos Highway near the Sto. Rosario cemetery, and going toward the Masinag area when its steering wheel malfunctioned at 2:40 p.m. Saturday.

The truck swerved into the other side of the road and rammed the bicycle store where Alburo and her grandson were in. Bystanders rushed the two victims to the hospital.

The truck came to a complete stop when it smashed the cement wall of the cemetery.
