LA TRINIDAD, Benguet - The Singapore government is requesting police help in the country in the drive against a job scam reportedly victimizing Filipinos.
Taking cue from Singaporean police, the Cordillera police has began a campaign actively informing would-be victims of these job scam to prevent further victimizations.
Chief Inspector Dave Limmong of the La Trinidad police in Benguet said the Republic of Singapore is requesting them to stop a fake job scam.
The supposed “modus operandiâ€, Limmong said, starts with the use of the email addresses of the Singapore General Hospital (SGH) to would-be victims.
The SGH reportedly has no authorization on this matter.
Job or employment scammers using SGH are asking a number of candidates from the Philippines for the position of staff nurses in SGH, Limmong said. They are issued through the email addresses of singaporegenhosp@yahoo.com, singaporegeneralhosp@ojoo.com and singaporegenhosp@hush.com.
Supposed scammers also publicized and used their online job advertisement in their email communication to these candidates without SGH’s approval.
The emails sent to the candidates allegedly under SGH’s name request for a payment of $3800 through a Bank Account (not owned by SGH) as SGH Embassy Visa Interview Preparation Fee.
In addition, these emails were sent by forging the Human Resource Director’s name and Nursing Director’s name of the SGH.
Limmong said they were asked by the SGH to make public here in the country, including in the Cordillera where nurses applying for abroad are aplenty, “that their organization did not authorize any company under the abovementioned email addresses and/or its personnel to make any offer of employment on behalf of SGH and neither did they request for any form of payment to be made to them or to any bank account.â€
Any information, Limmong said, “will be treated with confidentiality and will dealt with to stop this scam on our end.â€
It was not known, however if a victim has emerged to complain against the scam in the highland region.
