Kiram's daughter accuses Malaysia of 'indiscriminate firing'

ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines  - The Malaysian forces are reportedly firing indiscriminately on civilians the former suspected as supporters of the sultan of Sulu, Jacel Kiram said.

Jacel is the daughter of sultan of Sulu Jamalul Kiram III.

“We have received reports as of this morning that indiscriminate firing na ang nangyayari. May nakatawag sa atin [at ang sabi] ang biktima ng mga Malaysian (forces) sa pamamaril ay mga babae na at mga bata,” she said.

Jacel  and TV host Mariel Rodriguez arrived late Thursday night here and visited the deportees from Tawi-Tawi encamped at the Processing Center for Displaced Persons (PCDP) of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).

Jacel said among the victims was a pregnant woman hit by indiscriminate firing. “She and her son was shot to death by the Malaysian police," Jacel said.

The Malaysian forces have launched house to house search for the members of the Sultan Royal Army led by Raja Muda Agbimuddin Kiram, younger brother ofJamalul.

Jacel also expressed dismay over the condition of the remaining deportees being attended  to by the DSWD.

“Ayaw ko nang tingnan kasi mas nadadagdagan ang galit ko. Nakapanggigil po na ang gobiyerno pinapabayaan lang ito mangyari. Hanggang ngayon nagbibingihan, nagbubulagbulagan at halatang halata sa pagkampi sa Malaysia,” she said. - Roel Pareño
