MANILA, Philippines - The Supreme Court (SC) on Tuesday stopped the Commission on Elections' (Comelec) order to the the officials of the Archdiocese of Bacolod to remove the tarpaulin of senatorial candidates who are against and for the Reproductive Health law.
Lawyer Theodore Te, the High Court's public information office head, said the SC has issued a temporary restraining order against the Comelec directive.
Te said that the magistrates also ordered the Comelec to to submit a comment on the TRO within 10 days.
The High Court has scheduled the oral arguments on the case at 2 p.m. on March 19.
The Comelec ordered the Archdiocese of Bacolod to remove the tarpaulins of the so-called "Team Buhay" and "Team Patay" in its churches, noting the it has violated the sizes required in the campaign rules set by the poll body.
