Police probe death threat vs lawmaker

Ric Sapnu, - The Philippine Star

SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga , Philippines– Police authorities are now looking into the supposed death threat received by Pampanga third district Rep. Aurelio Gonzales Jr.

Superintendent Ricardo David, city police chief, said he has dispatched a team to investigate the death threat.

“We will scrutinize the envelope which contains five live bullets for M-16 rifle and a piece of paper with his nickname ‘Dong’ written on it,” David said.

Last Saturday, SPO1 Angel Pesayco, a former security aide of Gonzales, found the envelope at his gate in St. Jude Village, Barangay Dolores here.

Fearing for his life and his family’s, Pesayco has decided to transfer to an undisclosed place.

Gonzales said the five M-16 bullets would be subjected to ballistic test.

“This apparent threat is a cause for me to worry, not for my safety but for the well-being of my family, my leaders and supporters,” he said.

For his part, Senior Superintendent R’Win Pagkalinawan, Pampanga police director, said he immediately sent an investigating team after learning about the death threat.

Gonzales, two-term third district congressman of the Nationalist People’s Coalition, will run against City Mayor Oscar Rodriguez of the Liberal Party in the May polls.
