MANILA, Philippines - Two children were killed when a fire hit their rented room in Antipolo City Sunday.
Tracy Mergano, three, and his brother, John Eric, two, were playing with a gas lamp while their mother was sleeping on the second floor of a house on Lanzones street, Phase 4-B in Barangay De la Paz when the fire occurred.
Senior Superintendent Rolando Anduyan, Rizal police director, said initial reports showed that the mother of the kids was roused from her sleep by shouts of fire and rushed out of the room, leaving behind her two children.
