NPAs burn cargo truck in Agusan

Ben Serrano - The Philippine Star

BUTUAN CITY, Philippines – At least eight New People’s Army (NPA) rebels burned a cargo truck in Sitio Tabon, Barangay Aklan, Nasipit, Agusan del Norte Saturday afternoon.

The incident occurred near a national highway and the Nasipit port, where passenger and cargo ships from Manila, Cebu and Bohol dock.

Police Officer 3 Crisologo Boyles said copra trader Socorro Honculada owns the truck.

Boyles said the driver of the truck, Samson Flores, and three others were loading copra into the truck when the NPA guerrillas poured gasoline on the vehicle and set fire to it.

Police said it is possible that the rebels  burned the truck because its owner refused to pay revolutionary tax.
