Corona prosecutor to assume CDC post

Ding Cervantes - The Philippine Star

CLARK FREEPORT, Pampanga , Philippines   â€“ Remember the private prosecutor who covered his ears during the Corona impeachment trial supposedly to avoid the “shrill voice” of Sen. Miriam Defensor Santiago?

The lawyer, Vitaliano Aguirre II, according to a reliable source, will take over as vice president and general counsel of the government-owned Clark Development Corp. (CDC) on March 16.

The CDC source told The STAR that Aguirre accepted the post upon the prodding of his fellow San Beda College alumnus CDC president and chief executive officer Arthur Tugade who was appointed to the state firm only last December.

For the first time in over a decade, there have been major changes in top-level posts in the CDC, which runs this freeport.

Tugade earlier had sought the courtesy resignations of CDC vice presidents, and the resignations of executive vice president Phillip Panlilio and vice president for business development Ernesto Gorospe would be carried out on March 30. Earlier, vice president for regulatory services Pip Galang had quit his post.

The source confirmed reports that Tugade would limit the number of vice presidents to only four, including Aguirre.

The vice presidents to be retained are Franco Madlangbayan for operations; Marizz Mandocdoc for business development and enhancement; and Noel Manankil for administration and finance.

“There will also be plans to streamline the different departments. Some will be merged,” the source added.
