Outstanding cops get NCRPO recognition

MANILA, Philippines - The National Capital Region Police Office on Monday recognized the exemplary performance of 75 members of the Southern Police District by bestowing on them the coveted Medalya ng Papuri (PNP Commendation Medal) and the Medalya ng Kasanayan (PNP Efficiency Medal).

Receiving the Medalya ng Papuri were 41 SPD police officers while the Medalya ng Kasanayan was received by 34 SPD officers.

The NCRPO bestowed the awards in recognition of the SPD’s operations that started last month and ended with the arrest of suspects in the Western Union-SM Bacoor branch robbery; the neutralization of robbers preying on bus passengers in Muntinlupa and the safe rescue of a woman taken hostage by her mentally-ill daughter-in-law in Taguig City.

Parañaque City Police chief, Sr. Supt. Billy Baldemor Beltran, Inspector Micheal Guinto Chavez, intelligence chief, and 13 other police officers were given the Medalya ng Kasanayan for their successful intelligence operation that ended with the arrest of  Melvin Labastida, one of six suspects in the robbery of the Western Union Cash Money Transfer at SM Bacoor on January 29.

Receiving the Medalya ng Papuri for the same operation were Supt. Teofilo Andrada, Inspector Mcvernon Manera, Inspector Arnold Dugas and Inspector Enrique Sy.

Ten Pasay City Police officers led by Inspector Cesar Teneros meanwhile received the Medalya ng Kasanayan for arresting Bello Alayon Tubat alias “Junior Asin” one of the most wanted persons in Pasay City and the main suspect in the killing of PO3 Jose Salazar on September 19, 2011.

Fourteen officers of the Muntinlupa Police Station led by Sr. Supt. Roque Vega were awarded the Medalya ng Papuri for arresting Micheal Landicho a suspect in the robbery inside a Dela Rosa Transit bus last February 9.

Meanwhile, Taguig City Police chief, Sr. Supt. Arthur Asis and 10 other police officers received the Medalya ng Kasanayan for their successful and safe rescue of a 70-year old woman held hostage by her mentally-ill daughter-in-law in Taguig City last February 6.

NCRPO Director Leonardo Espina called on the awardees to press on with the drive against criminality in southern Metro Manila.
