23 Iloilo City bets sign peace pact

ILOILO CITY, Philippines – Twenty-three of the 36 candidates for different elective posts here yesterday signed a peace covenant for secure and fair midterm elections on May 13.

The covenant signing, held at the gym in Jaro district, will just be the first of a series of such initiatives across Western Visayas, said Chief Superintendent Agrimero Cruz Jr., Region 6 police director.

The signing of the police-initiated peace pact was also witnessed by representatives of the Commission on Elections, the military, media, and the religious sector.
