MANILA, Philippines - Police arrested Thursday night two men suspected of shooting and critically wounding a law school dean in Ilocos Norte.
Superintendent Jeffrey Gorospe, Ilocos Norte police office spokesman, said Jomar Quezada, 24 and Reynaldo Pagatpatan, 32, a member of the Citizen Armed Forces Geographical Unit, were arrested at a checkpoint in Pinili, Ilocos Norte.
Gorospe said the two men allegedly yielded a shoulder bag owned by the victim, lawyer Ramon Leano, dean of the College of Law at the Mariano Marcos State University.
Authorities also seized from the suspects a homemade shotgun, a .45 pistol, a motorcycle, and a mobile phone.
Reports showed that Leano was about to board his vehicle after his class at the MMSU in Barangay Quiling Sur, Batac City around 6:50 p.m. when two men riding in tandem on a motorcycle peppered the victim with bullets.
