Comelec reminds bets of campaign rules
MANILA, Philippines - The Commission on Elections on Wednesday reminded national candidates in the May 13 midterm polls of the prohibitions six days before the start of the campaign period next week.
In his tweets, Comelec spokesman James Jimenez also called on the electorate to be vigilant in monitoring the compliance of the candidates of the campaign rules.
Under the rules the following are prohibited: poster and propaganda materials of the candidates on public utility vehicles, including buses, taxicabs and jeepneys are prohibited; poster and propaganda materials attached or hanged on electric cables; and government vehicles bearing the images and names of candidates.
Jimenez also said that candidates are barred from hosting regular TV and radio programs.
"Posters, streamers, tarps will have to be taken down by the pols at their expense...Ang paglabag ng campaign rules ay election offense. Kulong, fine, at pagma-diskwalipika ang parusa," he added.
