MANILA, Philippines - Intelligence agents of the Southern Police District arrested in Makati City on Thursday night an alleged member of the Onad Santiago carjack gang.
SPD director Chief Supt. Jose Erwin Villacorte identified the arrested suspect as Noel Taladtad, a resident of Hembrador, Pasay City.
Police said Taladtad was arrested at about 11:25 p.m. along Lacuna St. in Barangay Bangkal.
At the time of his arrest, Taladtad was wanted for murder in San Fernando, Pampanga and for frustrated homicide in Pasig City.
The Onad Santiago gang led by Rolando “Onad†Santiago steals steals cars to use for other crimes such as bus robberies and carjacking.
Police said the Onad Santiago gang was behind a series of carjackings in Metro Manila, Central Luzon and the Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal and Quezon) areas.
Santiago and seven other members of his gang were arrested by police at their safehouse in Dasmarinas, Cavite on Jan. 21, 2011.
