Man beheads sister in Zamboanga

ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines - A man suffering from a mental disorder beheaded his elder sister inside their house in Sergio Osmeña, Zamboanga del Norte on Monday, the police said Tuesday.

Senior Superintendent Nelson Eucogco, acting Spokesman of Police Regional Office 9 (PRO), identified the victim as Rodelia Constantino, 43, resident of Barangay Poblacion.

Eucogco said that Constantino was beheaded by her younger brother, Rodolfo, who is suffering from a mental disorder.

He said that the killing was triggered when Rodolfo saw his other sister, Lilibeth Constantino, scolding her children. The suspect tried to confront his sister, but he was apparently ignored, the police spokesperson said.

The suspect then went home and found his other sister, Rodelia, who was lying on her bed. Without any apparent reason, Rodolfo took a bolo and attacked his sister. The incident happened at around 6:30 a.m.

Rodolfo is currently detained at the town's police station.
