2 dead, 16 hurt as bus rams parked truck

LEGAZPI CITY, Philippines – A passenger bus rammed a parked truck along the national highway in Cumadcad town in Sorsogon last Friday morning, leaving two persons dead and at least 16 others injured, authorities said.

Soldiers of the Army’s 903rd Infantry Brigade and policemen manning a checkpoint rushed to the aid of the victims.

Col. Joselito Makilala, commanding officer of the 903rd IB based in Castilla, Sorsogon, said troops led by Cpl. Glen Martinez assisted the injured, including two critically ones, and retrieved the bodies of one of the drivers, Ferdinand Hirao, and a passenger of the Elavil bus.
