Bacolod mayoral bet withdraws COC

Danny B. Dangcalan - The Philippine Star

BACOLOD CITY, Philippines – Mayoral candidate Julius Sayson has withdrawn his certificate of candidacy (COC), leaving the race for the city’s top post in the May polls between Vice Mayor Jude Thaddeus Sayson and former Bacolod congressman Monico Puentevella.

Mayor Evelio Leonardia, now on his third and last term, is running for congressman against incumbent Bacolod Rep. Anthony Golez, former spokesman of former President and now Pampanga Rep. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.

Meanwhile, Leonardia’s brother Prospero filed his COC for city councilor last Monday, replacing his sibling Andres who died last Jan. 5.
