MANILA, Philippines – Smuggling and drug charges were filed by the Bureau of Customs (Boc) against a balik-bayan from Hong Kong who was caught with P56-million worth of drugs at the airport early this month.

BOC chief Ruffy Biazon said the charges were filed against Roendo B. Ariata for violation of Sections 3601 and 2530 of the Tariffs and Customs Code of the Philippines, including the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Ariata was caught by airport customs officials with 7.0486 kilograms of shabu that were concealed in seven rectangular boxes labeled "Gold Premium Milk" which were stuffed in his luggage.
