UPDATE: 3 Americans, 3 others dead in Olongapo fire

OLONGAPO City, Philippines -  Three Americans, a South Korean and two Filipinos died early Friday after a fire blazed through several hotels in Barangay Barretto, Olongapo City.

Witnesses said the fire  broke out at around 3 a.m. Friday at  the Dryden Hotel.

The witnesses said most of the guests were sleeping when the fire started.

Reports identified the American victims as Patrick Burk, James Brigati and Joe Valoso, the Korean national was identified as Hyung Ook Kim,  while the two Filipinas have yet to be identified.

Angie Layug, head of the Olongapo City Risk Reduction Management Office in a report said that one of the Americans was trapped on the staircase while the other two died in their respective rooms.

The Olongapo City Fire Department is still investigating the cause of the fire.
