MANILA, Philippines - The Department of Justice announced on Thursday that it has sued 10 officials of the investment firm Aman Futures Group Philippines Inc. in relation to the P12-billion pyramiding scam last year.

In a press conference, Justice Secretary Leila de Lim said DOJ prosecutors filed two counts of syndicated estafa before the Pagadian City Regional Trial Court against  Manuel Amalilio, Fernando Luna, Lelian Lim Gan, Eduard Lim, Wilanie Fuentes, Naezelle Rodriguez and Lurix Lopez.

However, De Lima said the DOJ exonerated one of Aman Future's counsel and corporate secretary, Isagani Laluna for lack of evidence.

The case stemmed from the complaint of five people who alleged that they were swindled of more than P46 million last year by Aman Futures.

The DOJ also filed syndicated estafa charges against Nimfa Luna, Darwin Wenceslao and Dona Coyme for reportedly conning nine investors of P24 million.

The cases are expected to be raffled off this afternoon, the DOJ secretary said.
