Bohol farm-to-market road inaugurated
MANILA, Philippines - Close to 300 agrarian reform beneficiaries are expected to benefit from the construction of a farm-to-market road worth P20.3 million in Catigbian, Bohol.
Undersecretary for Support Services Jerry Pacturan of the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) led the turnover of the Poblacion West-Sinakayanan-Ambuan road to the local government of Catigbian recently.
“Farmers used to produce just enough for the consumption of their family because of the difficulty of transporting farm goods to the market due to poor road condition,” Pacturan said.
The DAR also launched the 1.86-kilometer farm-to-market road in Poblacion West connecting Barangays Rizal and Libertad also in Cabigtian town.
“This second road project of DAR is worth P16.8 million and would directly benefit 286 agrarian reform beneficiaries and their neighboring communities,” Pacturan said.
Cabigtian Mayor Roberto Salinas said these roads are expected to reduce transportation cost of farmers and residents.
The road projects were implemented under the Agrarian Reform Infrastructure Support Project or ARISP and funded by the Japan Bank for International Cooperation.
