PCG reshuffle looms

MANILA, Philippines - There would be a reshuffle of the top officials of the Philippine Coast Guard this month, PCG commandant Rear Admiral Rodolfo Isorena yesterday said.

“I still have to talk to the Secretary (of the Department of Transportation and Communication). May be after the New Year’s call to DOTC Secretary (Joseph Emilio Abaya),” said Isorena, who was named the PCG’s 25th commandant last Dec. 14.

The PCG had been on alert since Dec. 19 with the influx of sea travelers for the Christmas season. It will remain on alert until Jan. 7.

“If we implement the reshuffle at this time, it might lead to confusion…The reshuffle will take place after the New Year so that we will not disrupt the services of the coast guard during this holiday season,” Isorena said.

A board of officers will assist the commandant in drafting the list of officials to be affected by the reshuffle.
