MANILA, Philippines - Three men were left for dead by suspected motorcycle thieves in Central Mindanao, police reported Monday.
Police said a body of a man was found in a grassy lot in the remote village of Sumbak in Kidapawan City at around 11:30 p.m. on Sunday.
Reports from the Kidapawan City Police Office said that minutes before the body was found residents heard gunshots and the sound of a speeding motorcycle.
The police said the man, which was about five feet in height, wearing a T-shirt and a blue hooded jacket, was a motorcycle driver hired by the unidentified killers.
Investigators believed that the victim's assailants were motorcycle thieves.
In Cotabato City, residents of Barangay Mother-Bagua found the floating bodies of Edison Soquino and his nephew, Jason Penafiel, along the Bagua River, on Saturday.
Both sustained gunshot wounds in different parts of their bodies.
Relatives told police that the two left their village, on board a Suzuki motorcycle, around 6 a.m. on Saturday.
The police said the victims’ vehicles were taken by their assailants.
