Fil-Am appointed judge in Guam

The Department of Foreign Affairs on Friday said a Filipino-American/Guamanian was installed as the newest judge of the of the Superior Court of Guam.

Citing a report of the Philippine Consulate General in Agana, the DFA said Maria Teresa Bonifacio Cenzon is the first Filipino-American/Guamanian to hold the position.

She was nominated by Governor Eddie B. Calvo to the position in September and her nomination passed the confirmation of the 31st Guam Legislature.

Cenzon is a graduate of Loyola University's Chicago School of Law. She has worked in the field of law in Guam since 1996. She served as the former Director of Policy, Planning and Community Relations of the United Judiciary of Guam and as the legal counsel of Governor Eddie B. Calvo before her appointment as the new judge of the Superior Court of Guam.

Cenzon was born in Guam and is the daughter of Edward and Nita Cenzon, who hail from the province of Pampanga.
