Agusan Sur village chief gunned down

BUTUAN CITY, Philippines  – A village chief in Prosperidad, Agusan del Sur was slain by an unidentified gunman Saturday night, police said.

The victim, Eduardo Samaco, 50, chairman of Barangay San Martin, was driving his Honda XRM motorcycle along Barangay Poblacion in Prosperidad town when he was shot seven times, said Region 13 police director Chief Superintendent Carmelo Valmoria.

The gunman escaped using Samaco’s motorcycle. Police found six empty .45-caliber shells at the scene.
