62-year-old Ecija school principal slain
CABANATUAN CITY, Philippines – A sexagenarian school principal was killed by a lone gunman in her residential compound in Aliaga, Nueva Ecija Friday, police said.
Senior Superintendent Walter Castillejos, provincial police director, said the victim, Nila Mactal, 62, principal of the Zaragoza National High School in nearby Zaragoza town, was sweeping dried leaves in her compound when the gunman barged inside and fired at her repeatedly.
The assailant, who wore a black shirt and pants and sported sunglasses, fled aboard a motorcycle.
Witnesses described him as between 5’7” and 5’9”, medium-built and fair-complexioned.
Police found nine spent shells from a .9-mm revolver, four deformed slugs and a metal fragment at the crime scene.
