Mindoro mayor’s bodyguard guns down co-employee

CALAPAN CITY, Philippines – A bodyguard of a municipal mayor in this province allegedly shot dead a co-worker during a Christmas party Friday afternoon.

The victim was identified as Ireneo Laceda, a resident of Sitio Morente Ville in Barangay Wawa.

Witnesses point to Willy Ramos, a resident of Barangay Pagala-gala and a bodyguard of Pinamalayan Mayor Wilfredo Hernandez, as the suspect.

Initial investigation showed that Laceda and Ramos were having a drinking session along with their other co-employees at the mayor’s office, when a heated argument occurred between the two.

Ramos drew his service pistol and shot the victim point blank. He fled after the incident.
