SC denies KABAKA petition on disqualification

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - The Supreme Court has denied the petition of Kabalikat ng Bayan (KABAKA) partylist group to allow them to run in the 2013 polls.

In a resolution dated December 4, the SC rejected KABAKA's petition owing to its failure to attach the decision of the Commission on Elections decision disqualifying KABAKA.

The Court also ruled that there was no grave abuse of discretion in the Comelec decision.

Disqualified partylist groups have been asking the SC to reverse the Comelec decision. The Comelec had disqualified 178 groups, but 33 of them filed an appeal before the SC.
