NCRPO needs more cops this year

MANILA, Philippines - The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) announced on Wednesday that it is still recruiting 224 new policemen to meet the the supplemental quota for this year.

NCRPO chief Leonardo Espina said the 100 new cops will be deployed to NCRPO while the 124 will be dispatched in stations in Luzon.

The NCRPO also ordered the activation of city and municipal ad hoc screening committees that will process the mandatory minimum requirements and other documents submitted by applicants.

"We are looking forward to achieve the ideal police-to-population ratio,"Espina said.

"The additional personnel will be a big help in fielding more police officers in the streets and keep the community safe," he added.

For his part,  NCRPO Human Resources  head, Senior Superintendent Arthur Felix Asis said that based on existing policies, recruitment for the rank of PO1 in the PNP is open to all qualified men and women with Filipino citizenship, not less than 21 but not more than 30 years old, holder of any Baccalaureate Degree, and with good moral character.

He added that NCRPO and Luzon-based qualified applicants shall apply personally at the Office of the Regional Personnel and Records Management Division, NCRPO Headquarters, Camp Bagong Diwa, Bicutan Taguig City.

Asis said that interested applicants must have appropriate eligibilities for PO1 from the National Police Commission (NAPOLCOM), Professional Regulatory Commission (PRC), or the Civil Service Commission (CSC).

Applicants must not have been dishonorably discharged from military employment or on AWOL (absence without leave) or dropped from rolls from the PNP service or dismissed for cause from any civilian position in the government.

Applicants must have no pending criminal cases in court and must have not been convicted with final judgment of an offense or crime involving moral turpitude. - Dennis Carcamo
