MANILA, Philippines - Police arrested over the weekend an alleged Abu Sayyaf bandit tagged in the killing of a police officer and three of his men in Basilan in 2009.

Najim Laisong, alias Uyong, 20, did not resist when collared at his residence in Barangay Tumahubong, Sumisip town.

Senior Superintendent Edgar Danao, chief of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group in Region 9, said Laisong is wanted for four counts of murder.

A member of the group of Abugao Bayali operating in Sumisip, Laisong is a suspect in the ambush of Inspector Reymen Jannatul and three of his men.

Jannatul and his men were on their way back to Basilan proper in a police vehicle when they were ambushed along Sitio Nompol, Barangay Lower Benembengan.
