Retired cop, MMDA enforcer shot dead in Manila, QC

MANILA, Philippines - A retired policeman and a traffic enforcer of the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority were shot dead in separate incidents in Manila and Quezon cities on Sunday night.

Police identified the slain traffic enforcer as Arnold Role while the retired cop was identified as Constantino Garipicadan.

Investigations showed that Role was playing mahjong near his house in Barangay 102, Trinidad Street in Tondo district, when armed men shot him dead.

Meanwhile, eight men riding four motorcycles shot dead Garipicadan outside his house in Santo Niño de Payatas in Quezon City.

The retired policemen instantly died. His body bore 20 gunshot wounds.

Investigators said that Garipicadan went out of his house after men threw stones at it. As soon as the retired policeman was out, the gunmen fired at him and then fled aboard four motorcycles.

Police have yet to determine the motives behind the two shooting incidents.
