Lingayen, Philippines – The Pangasinan provincial government extends the spirit of giving and volunteerism to the thousands of families affected by the recent devastation of super typhoon “Pablo” by canceling the traditional Christmas dinner and fellowship of local officials and the employees’ Christmas party slated on Dec. 17 and 20, respectively.
In a memorandum to all city and municipal officials, Gov. Amado Espino Jr. said the funds earmarked for these events will be donated to the typhoon victims.
Instead of the annual festivities, the provincial administration opted to provide assistance to the thousands of typhoon-hit families in Davao Oriental, Compostela Valley and neighboring provinces.
Provincial administrator Rafael Baraan said Espino also encouraged local officials to share some of their funds to help the typhoon victims.
